One of Vermont’s best-known tourist attractions, VT Wildflower Farm has 6 acres of flowers and wildflower seed for all regions of the U.S. Open May through October, 10-5, seven days. Corporate name is American Meadows Inc., a producer of seed products and premiums specializing in wildflower seed. Also national landscaper seed sales for commercial, home and gov’t use. The Vermont Wildflower Farm Catalog is no longer published, but seed for all regions is sold on the company’s website, www.American Meadows.com.

Whistling Man Schooner Company
Sail with us aboard the classic sloop Friend Ship, Lake Champlain’s only U.S. Coast Guard certified sailing vessel. She is termed a Friendship Sloop and was built in Southwest Harbor Maine in 1981. Everett Mansion/ Southern Vermont College
In 1911, Edward Everett, known as the glass and bottle magnate of the American Industrial Revolution, commissioned architect George Totten and 30 stonemasons from Italy to build the limestone Main House patterned after the 14th Century English/Norman feudal mansions. Working seven days a week, ten hour days, the exterior was completed in six months. The cobblestone courtyard features the “porte cochere” where carriages dropped visitors opposite a stone cascade which has recently been renovated(1998). The Estate, which also includes other building, provides a fairy tale atmosphere overlooking breathtaking views. The property is now home to a four year liberal arts college which hosts soirees, tours, reenactments, theatre and other community events. Vermont State House
The Capitol is a magnificent building located in downtown Montpelier. The gold leaf dome includes real gold and offers a spectacular contrast with the wooded hillside of Hubbard Park in the background. The interior is adorned with marble floors, spiral staircases and finely carved wood trim.
T.W. Wood Art Gallery
Located on the Vermont College campus in College Hall, the gallery maintains a continuous display of the paintings of Thomas Waterman Wood. The gallery also includes exhibitions of regional artists and craftsmen.
Hubbard Park and Tower
Hubbard Park was created through a gift of 125 acres to the City of Montpelier by John E. Hubbard in 1899. Since then several other parcels have been added to the park which now consists of 185 acres and roughly 7 miles of hiking and skiing trails, numerous picnic areas, a soccer and baseball field, a small pond, a sledding hill, and a 54 foot observation tower. The observation tower offers spectacular views of the city from the highest point in the city.

A working apple cider mill which hosts 200,000 guests a year. Watch the apples being pressed into cider. In addition the mill has its own specialty bakery. Although apple delicacies dominate, a variety of taste-tempters are available. On Route 100, six miles north of Waterbury.
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
Time Magazine termed it “the best ice cream in the world.” Tours of the ice cream factory are available. The factory is located three miles north of Waterbury on Route 100. Multi-media slide show tells the story of the company. Watch the process and sample the product. Children (of all ages) love to visit.
Camp Meade Victory Museum
Located of I-89, Exit 9 in Middlesex, the musuem is a military history park featuring many antique military vehicles ranging from a Horwitzer, Half-Track and Sabre Jet. It is the site of the 1930’s Civilian Conservation Corp Camp..
Rock of Ages Quarry

The world’s largest granite quarry is located southeast of Barre. Sheer cliffs descend 475 feet to quarry floor below. The Visitors Center describes the process which transforms this gray stone into beautiful monuments and sculpture which endures for centuries.
